Privacy Policy

For the iOS app Poplings · Effective August 2026 · Last updated August 6, 2026

The short version

Poplings collects no data about you or your child. None at all. Nothing your child does in the app ever leaves the device, because the app has no ability to send anything anywhere.

Who we are

Poplings is made by Holdover Software, a studio of CM Collective LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company, which also owns and operates holdoversoftware.com.

This policy covers the Poplings iOS app and the Poplings pages on this website. It is written for parents, teachers, and anyone else deciding whether this app belongs on a child's device.

Information we collect

None. Poplings does not ask for, collect, store off-device, or transmit any personal information. To be specific rather than vague, the app collects none of the following:

The app does not request access to the camera, microphone, photo library, contacts, notifications, or location, and it cannot reach them: it ships without the permission entries iOS requires for those features, so the operating system itself blocks them.

What is saved on your device

So a child can pick up where they left off, the app saves a small amount of information in its own private storage on the device. This information stays on that one device. It is not transmitted anywhere, it is not shared with us, and we never see it.

What is saved:

None of it is tied to a person. There is nothing in it that identifies who was playing.

How to erase it

Two ways. Inside the app, open Grown-Ups and use Erase progress. Or delete the app, which removes all of it permanently. Because none of it was ever sent anywhere, erasing it on the device erases it everywhere.

No advertising, no analytics, no tracking

Poplings contains no advertising, no advertising identifiers, no analytics or crash-reporting services, no attribution or install-tracking services, no social media integrations, and no third-party software development kits that report usage. We do not track your child across apps or websites, and we do not build profiles.

There is no cross-promotion of our other apps to children anywhere in the app.

No internet connection

Poplings is fully offline. All of the artwork, sounds, and fonts are bundled inside the app, so it makes no network requests during play, contacts no servers, and loads no content from the web. That last part is deliberate: a font or image fetched from an outside server at launch would put your device's IP address in a third party's log every time your child opened the app.

There is nothing in the app that can send information out.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Poplings is designed for young children, so we built it so that there is nothing to protect: because the app collects no personal information whatsoever, there is no personal information from a child under 13 for us to use, store, share, or disclose. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children of any age, and we do not condition play on providing any information.

Because we collect nothing, there is no verifiable parental consent for us to obtain under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, no child's data for us to disclose to anyone, and no child's data for a parent to request, correct, or delete from us. We hold no records about your child at all. The same follows under the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, the EU GDPR including Article 8, and the children's provisions of laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act.

The app contains no behavioral advertising, no way for a child to communicate with anyone, and no links out to the web or to social media from anywhere a child can reach. The only links anywhere in the app sit inside the Grown-Ups area, which is reached by answering an arithmetic question intended to be beyond a small child.

If you believe any of this is not accurate, please write to us at the address below and we will investigate and respond.

Purchases

Poplings has no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no currency or loot mechanics. There is nothing a child can buy in the app. Downloading it, and anything Apple does around that transaction, is handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy rather than ours. Apple may make aggregate, anonymised figures available to us as the developer, such as total downloads by country. We receive no information about individual users or devices, and we could not identify a user from what we do receive.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell, rent, trade, or transfer information about you or your child, because we do not have any. We have no data to hand over to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else, and no data-sharing arrangements to disclose.

These web pages

The Poplings pages on holdoversoftware.com carry no advertising, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no cookies of our own. The site is hosted by Cloudflare Pages, which, like any web host, processes standard technical request information such as an IP address in order to serve the page and protect the site from abuse. We do not use that to build profiles of visitors.

If you email us, we hold your message and address for as long as it takes to answer you and keep a record of the exchange. We use it only to reply, we do not add you to a mailing list unless you ask, and we do not pass it on.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app ever changes how it handles information, we will update this page and its date before that version is released. If a change were ever to involve collecting data of any kind, we would say so here plainly and prominently, and we would not apply it retroactively to anything already on your device.
